Caterer’s Quotation

We saw the second caterer ‘Cloverdale’ a month-or-so back and were very impressed with their menu options. The email we had back quoted a price of 35 pounds-per-person for the food - and that sounded pretty reasonable.

But, as they say, the ‘devil’s in the detail’ – and it certainly is in our case, as the price, we discovered yesterday, doesn’t include ANY cutlery, crockery or tableware.

This is a major blow as we’d put them top of our list.

We’ll need to go back to the list that Kelmarsh Hall gave us for their preferred list of caterers.

Ah well, onwards and upwards, as they say.

Menu – Draft 1

Cloverdale sent through a great range of options for the wedding menu. Ann and I looked through it and narrowed it down to:

Hors D'Oeuvres

Tuscan bean soup
Italian antipasti selection (cured meats, char grilled artichokes, olives, sundried tomatoes, oils etc)
Ciabatta bread

Main courses

Chicken breast wrapped in Parma ham, finished with a lemon sage and caper dressing on a bed of polenta
Italian "bangers and mash" (with a rich tomato/basil sauce)
Wild Mushroom Risotto with grated parmesan and fine herbs
Roasted root vegetables

Desserts

Lemon Pannacotta, fruit compote and Amaretti Biscotti
Italian Zabaglione with marinated Morello Cherries in Kirsch, served with chocolate dessert Florentines

Cheese

A selection of continental cheeses with fruit, crackers and nuts 

Selection of Teas or Coffees with Truffles

Decaffeinated
Earl Grey
Jasmine
Lapsang Souchong

It’ll be interesting to see how the prices compare…
